Methodological Rules
「規則は制約ではない。誠実さである。」
Rules are not constraints. They are honesty.
0.2.1 The Core Prohibition
No spatial concept may be used before it is derived.
This includes:
- distance
- location
- extension
- separation
- containment
- adjacency
- dimensionality
- volume, area, length
- coordinates
- points, lines, surfaces
If a concept requires space to be meaningful, it cannot appear until space has been constructed.
0.2.2 The Vocabulary Lock
Common words carry spatial baggage.
“Here,” “there,” “between,” “inside,” “outside,” “near,” “far”—all of these assume what we are trying to derive.
Throughout this book, language is carefully controlled. Terms are introduced with explicit definitions, and those definitions may not match their everyday usage.
When a term is introduced, it is locked to its pre-geometric meaning until space emerges.
0.2.3 The Emergence Criterion
A concept is considered derived when:
- Its absence creates a logical contradiction, AND
- Its introduction resolves that contradiction without requiring anything not yet established.
Convenience is not derivation. Intuition is not derivation. Only necessity counts.
0.2.4 The Non-Retraction Principle
Once a stage is completed, it cannot be undone.
If Chapter 3 establishes direction, then direction exists for all subsequent chapters. We do not “go back” and question whether direction was really necessary—that question was settled at Chapter 3.
This is not dogmatism. It is structural integrity.
